This simple last-minute appetizer elevates Boursin cheese spread by topping it with honey and candied pecans.
Boursin cheese is a soft creamy cheese available in a variety of flavors. The taste and texture are similar to cream cheese, making it easy to spread on crackers, crostinis, apple slices, pear slices, etc. We’ve successfully made this recipe using a number of the Boursin flavors like Garlic & Fine Herb, Shallot & Chive, and Pepper. Each flavor adds its own flair and is equally as good. I think next I will look for one of their seasonal flavors. While the cheese is great on its own, the addition of the honey and candied nuts simply enhances the flavors while also adding new flavor profiles. Plus it gives the presentation a “fancy-like” feel.
While this appetizer is a hit with adults, it is also kid-approved. My niece and nephew both ask for the “fancy” cheese now.
Ingredients
- Boursin cheese in any flavor (or other soft spreadable cheese)
- Honey
- Chopped candied pecans (also works with candied walnuts)
- Crackers and/or sliced apples/pears
Instructions
Take foil-wrapped Boursin cheese out of the box. While the cheese is still in the wrapper, press the cheese with your fingers to flatten out the puck shape. Unwrap the cheese and place it on a platter. Cover the cheese with honey. Next, top with candied pecans (make sure the nuts are chopped). Serve with crackers or sliced apples/pears. Enjoy!
What do you think? Will you try this “fancy-like” cheese app the next time you have guests? I have a feeling I’ll be utilizing it a lot during the busy holiday season. Let’s face it, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are right around the corner. Are you ready?
