What’s Christmas without Christmas trees? Winter scenes? And artwork trying to capture all the feels? Inspired by black-and-white watercolor prints, I created two DIY Everygreen Prints and Printables trying to capture just that. The prints are perfect for hanging during Christmas time, but also for the winter months ahead.
I created the prints using a black Tombow Dual Brush Pen. It’s a water-based, blendable marker that creates the effect of watercolor without the hassle of getting out paint. On a piece of fine quality art paper, I first drew a rough sketch of my trees in the center of the page using a pencil. Then I simply went over my sketch using the flexible, fiber brush end of the pen. Variations in color happened by going over some spots more than others. You can either create your own art by using my “faux watercolor” trick or simply download and print the two 8″ x 10″ jpegs I created of my artwork. You can print the files (links at the end of post) on your home printer or take to a place like FedEx Office.
I made my artwork 8″ x 10″ to go in brass frames I found from World Market. The frames worked perfectly to flank the DIY 40″ Oversided Christmas Wreath I made. Be sure to check out my tutorial for how to create a large fresh wreath for under $54 (including the cost of battery operated lights) by using two smaller wreaths from Trader Joe’s.
