“I’m a Sucker for You” Classroom Valentines Printable

February 7, 2020

With Valentine’s Day a week away, I figured it was time to put together classroom valentines. Inspired by the Jonas Brothers (as well as my cousin’s son), I created a free “I’m a Sucker for You” classroom valentines printable. Simply download the free print-it-yourself PDF file, print, cut, punch two holes and attach a sucker. So simple and sure to please your child and the class of kids who receives them.

Valentine’s Day tends to be pretty girly, so I wanted to create a gender-neutral valentine. My cousin’s son Luke (age 6) loves suckers so I knew it had to be for a sucker. Thinking of suckers, I started singing “I’m a sucker for you,” and immediately knew it would be Luke approved. He totally rocks out to all the latest hits. While the design is still girly (it is all hearts), I think the colors are fun and, fingers crossed, boy approved. I hope boys, girls, and parents will all enjoy this easy-to-assemble sucker valentine.

Materials

  • Free Sucker Valentine Printable PDF file (prints 8 valentines per 8.5″ x 11″ page)
  • 8.5″ x 11″ white cardstock
  • X-ACTO knife and ruler or Scissors
  • Single hole punch
  • Suckers/Lollipops (I used Valentine’s Day Tootsie Roll Pops)

Instructions

Download the free PDF file. Print the file on white cardstock (for tips on printing, see my “Print-It-Yourself” Tips).

Cut out the valentines using an X-ACTO knife and ruler (or scissors). I prefer an X-ACTO knife for straight lines, but scissors work too, especially if your kids are doing the cutting.

Next, punch two holes in each valentine (one hole above the saying, and one hole below the saying). For the best results, be sure to punch the holes close to the writing.

After you cut out and punch each card, have your child write his/her name on the back or front of each valentine. Then attach a sucker to each valentine by slipping the stick in the two holes.

I know Luke needs to make 58 valentines to pass out to his class next Friday—58! That’s a lot of valentines, but luckily I’ve already made 16. I think he’ll have fun making the rest. He asked me to help him with his Valentine’s Day Box so I think we’ll be doing a lot of crafting this weekend. Update: Luke loved the sucker valentine! While rocking out to “I’m a Sucker for You,” we made 60 valentines for him to hand out at school. We also made the most epic Captain Underpants Valentine’s Day Box. He’s actually “Cupid Captain Underpants.” I documented the process of making the box in my Instagram Stories and have it saved in my Instagram Highlights if you want to check it out. We will talk about this craft for years to come, not only because it turned out so dang cute, but because we had so much fun making it together. There was a lot of laughter amongst the cutting, gluing and painting. Building memories is what it’s all about!
